App subscriptions- we have no clue!

A lot of people, including some recent switchers, think it outrageous that they should be required to pay a subscription at all. For them £1.99 is more than enough to fund unlimited free updates and support. They are unwilling to comprehend that developers only get half the money, and that a single email wipes out the entire revenue stream for that user forever.

I would love to have users paying even £2.99 per year.

I forgot about the above email when I wrote about app subscriptions yesterday, but it is more than relevant. It came from an app developer with whom I got into a conversation and I queried why the app was so inexpensive for the huge benefits it offers. His answer says it all, the vast majority only want to pay one set amount and a small one at that. A real shame...
