Apple gets watches
I was in an Apple store yesterday and was taken by the way the Apple Watch and the associated bands were placed within the location. The Apple Watch took centre stage and was placed in the most prominent position with iPhones next to it and then outer to the Macs etc. The way the straps could be changed and the simplicity this offers, with a huge range laid down next to the watches, was compelling and in stark contrast to what happens when you buy a watch in a jewellers.
The entire setup is designed to be interactive, the lighting perfectly highlights the more expensive steel and ceramic models, and for one second even I considered a £99 watch band purchase. But I soon remembered that I could get a similar band on Amazon for under £10. Overall, however, Apple does seem to get watches even if many do not consider the Apple Watch to be a real watch.
