A quick thought. It is a real shame that I cannot wear my Omega Seamaster to London tomorrow which I have to visit for work.
It is an expensive watch, but not in the league of what some may be looking for. It is, however, something I will not wear because of the following-
There is an "alarming" increase in the use of violence when it comes to the theft of luxury watches, according to new figures.
Information obtained by crime prevention database The Watch Register, shows there have been a total of 49,854 watches reported as stolen since 2019, around one in eight, or 13%, of which involved some sort of violence… More here.
Some would consider not wearing a watch in London to be paranoia, but that really is not the case. The chance of getting mugged for an expensive watch is much higher than you may believe and it takes all of the enjoyment away from owning a prized timepiece. It will be back on my wrist tomorrow night though so I guess this is very much a first world problem.
Wow! Be safe.
