Many watch people, those who enjoy traditional timepieces, do not feel that the Apple Watch is a 'watch' while at the same time being perfectly happy to praise the Casio G-Shock as a real watch.
I believe they are wrong, but watchOS 10 along with the newly introduced Snoopy face shows that with some care and attention, and no doubt a decent amount of money for the rights, Apple can produce something compelling on the wrist.
There is more than 12 minutes of animation used to create different faces every time you lift your wrist and I for one have been impressed by the variety on offer, and the feelings they give. The humour alone is a positive, but the integration with the watch parts, such as Snoopy sliding down the hour hand, take it to a level no other Snoopy watch has managed.
Pick up an Apple Watch SE from £220 and you will get the full Snoopy experience. Or you could go for one of the following.
Omega Speedmaster Anniversary £10,000
Lots of history, wonderful build quality and stylish in every way, but you pay a lot for a small Snoopy on the dial and a clever animation on the casebook.
Swatch X Peanuts
Swatch offers a few different and colourful Snoopy-centric watches for under £100, but they are verging on childish and being Swatch quite cheaply made. Still fun though.
Timex X Peanuts
The range of Timex Snoopy watches is extensive with one topping out at £249, but again the fun is present in a selection of not so well made offerings.
Seiko 5 Sports x Peanuts ‘Surfboard’ Limited Edition
Seiko offers a small selection of Snoopy watches with the 'Surfboard' being one of the most sought after. It's mechanical, well sized and is not overdoing the cuteness.
King Nerd x Bamford x Peanuts GMT Ltd Ed Snoopy Tennis
Love a bit of Bamford and limited to 250 units, this one is unique and offers a different take on the 'Snoopy on the wrist' look.
So, what would I have? The Omega of course because it is stunning, but I admit that on almost every other level Apple has made the best Snoopy watch to date.
