I picked up No One Saw A Thing last week for £0.99 on Amazon. It is the Kindle version so no trees involved and I then got to thinking about how long I will be reading this book for.
The fact that it is a HUGE page turner from the start is a bonus may ironically lessen the value, but when you consider the amount of time and enjoyment you get from a book for the cost, even a full-priced hardback, they are by far the next value entertainment you can buy.
Films kill only a couple of hours, games can be good value if they are not in-app purchase laden and perhaps music is priceless to the right ears, but it remains the case that a book, in whatever form, is by far the best value entertainment you can get.
(sorry coming up on this later) - same thing with video games... a lot comes down to if you consider time part of the reward or the cost . and the truth is it's both! the equation isn't linear...
