Outsourcing our memory to our phones is obviously convenient. Why examine your split ends and wonder how long it’s been since your last trim when you could scroll back through your iPhone calendar and realise your hair looks untidy because it’s been eight months since your last cut? Why risk forgetting to post your ASOS parcel when you could time a reminder to go off during the precise window you’ll be near the Post Office? More here (Apple News link).
I used to worry about how my calendar entries, reminders and notes would affect my long term memory, but it appears that since limiting my digital organisation I still remember what I need to. Obviously I cannot say for sure that there will not be affects in the future, but I suspect that no matter how hard we organise ourselves via our phones, we still have to remember to do the organisation and that the differences are minimal.
One more thing… oh, forgot what it was.
