Just go
1/ Boris Johnson became Prime Minister on 13th December 2019, less than 4 years ago, largely because he promised to 'Get Brexit Done'. He knew Brexit was a lie and he knew the downsides far outweighed the benefits, but he did get the paperwork for Brexit done and we are suffering more each week because of the effects. He then partied through Covid, or rather lied about attending parties, and was eventually forced to resign as Prime Minister.
2/ Liz Truss became Prime Minster on 6th September 2022 and she held that post until 24th October 2022, a mere blink of a political eye. It was an election only for Conservative Party members to vote in and they chose her, they chose her despite hearing her speak and seeing how (in)capable she was. She inevitably screwed up instantly and managed to lose the country £30 billion in her mini-budget with estimates adding a further £10 billion due to extra government borrowing costs.
3/ Rishi Sunak because Prime Minster on 24th October 2022 (an internal party election again) and has to date proven to be a lightweight managerial type with no real ambitions aside from keeping his party in government and keeping the various factions in the Conservative Party quiet. There is now talk of letters beings sent in by MPs and there is a possibility that we could be faced with a third Prime Minster in one year without the general public having a say in it. Overall, since 2016 that would be Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunack and whoever is next- 6 Prime Minsters in 7 years.
4/ If all of the above looks bad, here are a selection of headlines from just the past 2 weeks-
Rishi Sunak allies have fired back at “bitter” Nadine Dorries after she accused the PM of putting her personal safety at risk by whipping up “a public frenzy” against her.
The Boris Johnson loyalist launched a scathing attack on Mr Sunak as she finally formally resigned her seat, 11 weeks after promising to go – telling him: “History will not judge you kindly.”
On Thursday, the emails that have left headteachers reeling started to arrive. A ruling from ministers in the Department for Education said their schools, built using potentially dangerous concrete, would need to close or partially close.
Within hours, parents and children had been informed. Many were left angry and confused by the timing of the announcement, just before the start of a new school year. Schools across England were left with days to improvise temporary classrooms from marquees or empty office buildings, or arrange to share space with unaffected schools. The majority of schools will open as usual but for tens of thousands of pupils the new academic year will start like no other.
Grant Shapps has been announced as the UK's new defence secretary, as the prime minister carries out a mini-reshuffle at the top of government.
The appointment comes after Ben Wallace revealed last month he would be leaving the role the next time Rishi Sunak made changes to his cabinet - as well as stepping down as an MP at the next election.

In 2012, photos were leaked of Shapps at a 2004 conference using the "business name" Michael Green, a supposed web guru linked to the How To Corp business he started with his wife.
The How To Corp was a web publishing business that told online users they could "make $20,000 in 20 days guaranteed or your money back" if they invested $200 in software. And while Shapps acknowledged that he had started the business and worked as "web guru" Michael Green, he indicated he had not done so since becoming an elected member of Parliament in 2005.
The housing secretary Michael Gove is planning a major change to rules on waterway pollution in a bid to build thousands more homes in England.
Liberal Democrat environment spokesperson Tim Farron said: "Not content with the levels of pollution in our rivers already, scrapping nutrient neutrality is a disgraceful act from the government."
He added: "If ministers actually cared about our rivers they would clean them up rather than scrapping the few rules in place that protect them."
Suella Braverman’s plan to house asylum seekers on the Bibby Stockholm barge could face a legal challenge as firefighters accused ministers of “callous disregard” for the safety of those on board.
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has sent a “pre-action protocol letter” to the home secretary outlining its concerns over safety aboard the vessel, which is moored in Portland, Dorset.
2 weeks! Throw in millions of people struggling to heat their homes, feed their kids, not being able to go to work because they cannot get the hospital treatment they need (+7 million waiting list), get help from the police when they are a victim of violence and on and on and…
How can this government still be in power? How is it possible that the general public are just sitting back and taking it while the Conservatives string out what time they have left and drain as much money to their preferred targets as is possible?
A real world example for me was when someone close to me attended Accident & Emergency late last week as she had a major mental health breakdown. She waited 4 hours, was seen for 2 minutes and was then advised that the Mental Health Team would go to her house the next day to make sure she was OK. No one turned up.
She called and no one answered the phone, and so she was effectively abandoned. Her next option was to visit the local Mental Health Hub- they now do not open at the weekend so you have to ensure that you only have mental health problems Monday to Friday.
Her only option is to go back to Accident & Emergency, an environment that seriously stresses out people who already suffer anxiety alongside other conditions, and to go through the whole process again.
This is where we are in this country with mental health and despite £1,000's spent on private psychological care she is still suffering dreadfully. There is no continuity of care in the private sector- you get the first (very) expensive appointment where a general assessment is given and then you cannot get a follow up appointment for many weeks ahead. It's a case of take the money, offer a part service and then take the money from others who are desperate without actually helping the patients, or what they appear to view as 'customers'. There is no help for her despite what could reasonably be described as a 'threat to life' situation.
I know I moan about this government a lot, but surely we need a general election immediately. They are actually making what could not be any worse more difficult for us every single day. Just go!
