More is less

The above photo is of my treadmill which I am using multiple times a day and as you can see there is not a lot of tasteful design going on here.

It gets worse though. See those touchscreen buttons (Speed-, Prog, Start, Stop, Mode and Speed+). Remarkably they do not work at all and are not designed to. They are just there and presumably because the screen has been re-used from another model.

Ironically the treadmill is fine and works very well, but design touches like this are somewhat annoying and lazy in my view.
