Not all women want women’s watches
I showed my wife a selection of women’s watches listed in a recent edition of WatchTime and she was far from impressed. She is not a girly girl, but does like feminine things when it comes to jewellery.
She does not, however, want the watches that most brands define as being for females because they a) tend to be quartz b) are blinged up with diamonds etc and c) are too small.
She wants a man’s watch that is of reasonable size and plain enough to not draw attention while having enough presence to feel special.
Why do brands separate their watches between the sexes? Why don’t they grow the market for all of their models by not labelling them as for a particular gender? If they did this, it is likely that many women would buy more watches because they would not feel confined to what the brands decide is suitable for women.
