(Pointless) England and Wales' contact-tracing app gets launch date
"We need to use every tool at our disposal to control the spread of the virus including cutting-edge technology," said Mr Hancock.
"The launch of the app later this month across England and Wales is a defining moment and will aid our ability to contain the virus at a critical time." More here.
This is not a defining moment. As you may be aware I am very covid aware and will do all I can to protect myself and others, but a voluntary system of asking people to scan barcodes will not work. Why would people put themselves in a position of potentially having to self-isolate if someone in the same venue as them tests positive. It is unclear to me how deep the tech goes regarding Bluetooth distancing etc.
