The 3rd edition of the Kindle Oasis was released on 24th July 2019 and there has been no model announced since.
This is a huge gap in the technology world and yet the Oasis still stands head and shoulders above the other Kindles. It is expensive and in part outdated, but it is easily the best.
The micro-USB connector is the glaring indicator of age and it still irks me that it is there. Every other device I own is USB-C, but the latest Oasis still includes this slow charging connector.
Everything else is decent though apart from the battery life which is lesser than later and cheaper models, but the actual reading experience is wonderful. Navigation buttons, real hardware inclusions, the warm screen and shape make for a natural time dipping into a good book.
Throw in an official leather case and you have all that you need apart from that silly connector. I just don’t understand why Amazon has not made small changes to the latest model to make it as good as it can be? Maybe this year the answer will come, at a cost no doubt.
