I received the Casio G-Shock GA-2100MNG-7AER (white) and the GA-2100MNG-2AER (blue) yesterday. They were on sale for a very small amount of time (349 of each available) from yesterday morning and they sold out instantly.
I was lucky and got one of each, blue for me and white for my son who loved the look as soon as he saw them.
The experience of holding them and in particular wearing them is very strange at first because they neither feel or look real. The rubber texture matches the design perfectly and strangely they fit both myself and my son who have different sized wrists.
Take a look at the image below, it is as if I have used Photoshop to add a cartoon watch to my wrist.
Besides the visual trickery, the attention to detail is excellent. From the cleverly painted chapter wring around the dial to the drips falling onto the side of the case, there is no element of these watches that looks manufactured- it feels natural in every single way.
And once you have set the time, date, day, seconds etc, you are left with a highly functional watch that will get attention and which is genuinely fun to experience. That sounds like a strange thing to say about a watch, but I would say it is the most fun watch I have ever put on my wrist and at £139 it is decent value.
They are already trading for double the cost on eBay and it looks like they will be difficult to get in the future. This from the Casino UK site- ‘THIS WATCH HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. It's unlikely that we will restock this model in the future.’
Well, my son and I will be keeping ours because they offer something truly different and I really am struggling to find any faults apart from the negative display screen which is hard to read. Otherwise, what a fun bargain these are!
They’re really weird-looking, but I see the appeal!
