I can certainly remember where I was when I first encountered a great many of my favourite books. I never meant to keep these memories; I seem to have had no say in the matter. The bookstores, my mind decided, were important: the setting for a bildungsroman... More here.
Interesting that books can be tied to the purchase location. I very much do this with watches and if I were to purchase a piece that I would wear forever more the purchasing experience becomes important to me. However, I have never experienced this in a bookshop, mainly because I snap a photo of a book I like the look of and buy it for my Kindle later on. Shame on me.
